Responsibilities
As Environmental Advisor you'll be working within the environment & sustainability team, supporting them with the implementation of the driving for sustainability strategy in the local highway's contracts.
Your day to day will include:
- Supporting the ongoing maintenance of the ISO14001:2015 environmental management system including application and management of permits, exemptions and consents, providing training and driving continual improvement through innovation
- Site inspections and audits to ensure ongoing legal and other compliance obligations are met
- Completing environmental assessments of schemes to manage environmental / ecological risks, responding to and assisting with the investigation of environmental near misses and incidents
This role of Environmental Advisor is great for you if you can:
- Demonstrate qualifications in a relevant subject or field, including IEMA or equivalent
- Show working experience in an environmental management area, including assessing and identifying the environmental impacts of proposed works, identifying potential risks on site and advise on appropriate control or mitigation measures
- Put forward experience of maintaining, implementing and improving EMS's certified to BS EN ISO 14001 and practical skills of carrying out compliance inspections and audits resulting in improved performance
