The Laing O'Rourke Centre of Excellence for Modern Construction, is Europe's largest and most advanced pre-assembly manufacturing facility.

The Opportunity:

  • The purpose of the Quality Leader is to formulate and drive the development and implementation of the Quality Management System
  • Ensure the product is manufactured in full accordance with the project specifications and agreed acceptable standards.
  • You will coordinate with manufacturing operations, engineering, project coordination, and individual projects, to control and improve the quality levels of goods and services.

What will the role look like?

  • To ensure full product and process compliance for Explore Manufacturing, to take ownership of the internal Quality systems and act as a liaison to the LO'R Technical Systems Engineering & Assurance Leaders for all Quality matters.
  • Actively manage ISO9001
  • Declarations of Conformance, CE Marking, and CARES accreditations.
  • Conduct audits within Explore Manufacturing and its key supply chain as required.
  • Represent the company when factories are being audited by third-party representatives. The role will involve working closely alongside the factory management teams
  • Managing, implementing, and auditing of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) function to manage the introduction of New Projects into the Manufacturing environment.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineering with regard to the APQP launch on the shop floor and identify areas of improvement in conjunction with the Operations team.
  • Utilises Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques to gain positive benefits in terms of process performance, cycle time, and waste reduction
  • Promote the right first-time attitude focusing on proactive quality measures. Actively looks for ways to improve processes, reduce errors, increase efficiencies and create cost savings.
  • Create a workflow system for corrective actions which integrates customer feedback and creates accountability to identify and resolve the root causes that result in quality or service issues.
  • To ensure product and process compliance for Explore Manufacturing, to oversee the internal Quality Management Systems, and act as a liaison with the LO'R Technical Systems Engineering & Assurance Leaders for all Quality matters.
  • Managing ISO9001, Declaration of Conformance, CE Marking, and CARES accreditations.
  • Conducting internal and second-party audits within Explore Manufacturing and its supply chain as required.
  • Manage, perform and report on product quality, manufacturing machinery compliance, and product testing.
  • Create quality documents and manuals in accordance with industry and customer-specific standards.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • Significant manufacturing experience in health & safety / environmental issues in a large, complex factory environment.
  • Previous experience working in a precast concrete manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Knowledge of concrete plants, batching concrete, and mix designs would be a distinct advantage for the role.
  • Previous experience in an ISO 9000-certified environment is required - 5+ yrs experience is essential.
