Herts Resourcing Group are recruiting for a Health and Social Care Lecturer on an ongoing temporary basis offering variable hours per week and between £19.74 and £21.42 per hour.

You will be based in Broxbourne, and the successful candidate will have experience in teaching BTEC Level 1 - 3 and will have good knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology.

About the role

You will teach on Health and Social Care courses up to Level 3 and to be a tutor to a group of learners in the Department. The post holder will also contribute to the curriculum development of the Health and Social Care course, particularly covering biology.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To maintain up to date subject and sector knowledge and experience.
  • To take an active part in the recruitment, interviewing, selection and counselling of students.
  • To coordinate a range of cross Department functions including co-ordination of two or more courses (if required).
  • To assist where appropriate, with the establishment and monitoring of student work placements.
  • To complete administrative tasks and keep accurate and complete records of attendance of students, schemes of work and course outlines, marking schemes and in course assessments and to make these available as required.
  • To participate in and contribute to course evaluation and review.
  • To take a full part in the general life of the college including attending relevant meetings and to develop, in conjunction with the Curriculum Manager and Course Leader, planning and materials for new courses.
  • To teach on the department's courses. Duties to include:
  • being an inspiring, well-prepared teacher
  • being a responsible tutor
  • iii. maintaining effective tutorial, student monitoring and follow up systems.

  • liaising with the appropriate awarding bodies or curriculum leaders to ensure that the criteria for course approval are being met and implemented
  • carrying out effective evaluation of courses
  • carryout all risk assessments including Personal Safety Assessments relevant to practical activities in line with Health and Safety procedures
  • The person & qualifications

    • A relevant degree or a professional qualification in a Health & Social Care related subject
    • A Level 4 teaching qualification (e.g., Cert Ed, PGCE) is desirable or the willingness to achieve one in line with statutory requirements
    • Demonstrable and successful experience of teaching Health & Social Care up to Level 3 including biology topics such as anatomy and physiology, cardiovascular systems and the blood and disease and immunity cells
    • Have relevant industry experience of working within the Health Sector is desirable
