Digital Engineer - Structures

Location: London, Dartford, Manchester, Worksop

Hybrid working - required to attend meetings on-site, as well as Laing O'Rourke offices

Can you make an impact on and accelerate work packages championing improvements and enhancing existing tools?

Examples of the activities that will be required as part of this role:

  • Capture the physical geometry, engineering design requirements, manufacturing and assembly constraints etc. of new products and translate these into digitally explicit rules/data to be incorporated into the Digital Bridges Toolkit
  • Expand the digital configurator tool and adding new features that allow different types of bridges to be configured (training on how the tool is developed will be provided)
  • Presenting at industry conferences & events

Core skills required

  • A passion and interest in design automation
  • Has experience in using CAD packages, and is keen to extend their learning in this area (Solidworks and Driveworks training to be provided)

Desirable skills

  • Has knowledge of, or is keen to learn about data structuring, SQL relational databases and digital workflows etc.
  • Knowledge of modular construction, MMC, DfMA
  • Professionally qualified / chartered by a recognised body
  • Coding/scripting skills e.g. python, grasshopper, VBA
