Senior Engineer - Precast

Location: London, Dartford, Worksop

Permanent role

Hybrid working - required to attend meetings on-site, as well as Laing O'Rourke offices

Are you ready to lead structural engineering input on Tenders and Pre-Construction Agreements for a variety of DFMA projects? Can you work closely with work winning constructions professionals to assess and improve DFMA product-based designs? Then we need you. Can you help us take our product sets to the next level, help mitigate technical risk and reduce cost?

The position will require your input at Tender RIBA stage 2/3 for structural design assessment for cost allowances, utilising existing product sets. Are you familiar with parametric design software for developing the structural design process? Our products are required to meet client requirements and manufacturing constraints, can you develop products for this? Our CEMC (Centre of Excellence for Modern Construction) facility leads the industry in the DfMA (Design for Manufacturing Assembly) approach. Can you help us improve further?

What experience and skills do you need for this role?

  • A passion to lead the industry through structural design and construction automation.
  • Good problem-solving skills and confidence to enforce safe designs
  • Reinforced concrete design experience
  • Experience in using CAD packages, including Revit, and is keen to extend their learning in this area
  • Knowledge in the use of design and analysis programs (TEDDS, Scia Engineer) is beneficial to the role.
  • Degree level or equivalent on the job learning in Civil / Structural Engineering; Chartered Structural Engineer or working towards this
  • Circa 5 years' experience in a structural design engineer role

Desirable

  • Structural Steel design experience
  • Concrete reinforcement detailing knowledge
  • Good understanding of site construction techniques and building design principles
  • Understanding of precast concrete manufacture
  • A good understanding of associated assembly methods & costs is also desired
