Kier Construction are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to to join our North and Scotland team in Holyhead.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team in delivering the new Border Control Post in Holyhead on Anglesey. This exciting £40m project for the Welsh Government is due to commence on site in September this year, and will be completed under the NEC 4 contract. You will report to the Managing Surveyor who will be leading the project, and will be part of a commercial team. In your role you will be expected to undertake the following duties;

  • Subcontract procurement
  • Subcontract package management
  • Contract administration both with the employers Project Manager, and with Kier's supply chain
  • Support MQS in producing value cost reconciliation reports
  • Agreeing applications for payment and processing payments
  • Producing and maintaining risk registers
  • Raising and responding to Early Warning Notices & Compensation Events and closing these out through agreement
  • Agreement of final accounts
Given the location of the project, which is due to last for 30 - 40 weeks, Kier will provide accommodation plus an uplift to the basic salary for applicants who wish to lodge due to excessive travel time to site.

What do we need from you?

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of NEC contracts. You will be degree qualified within a relevant discipline and be able to evidence your commercial and contractual understanding. The ideal candidate will have experience of working on schemes valued between £1m - £10m as the commercial lead.
