Maintenance Manager

Dowlow Quarry, Buxton, Derbyshire.

Breedon are currently seeking a Maintenance Manager at our Dowlow Quarry, Buxton, Derbyshire.

The role will involve carrying out pro-active maintenance duties on a busy hard rock quarry and associated equipment, as well as responding to plant breakdowns.

Other duties will include planned preventative maintenance to ensure plant and equipment on site are safe, working effectively and fit for purpose. You will work with the quarry management to maintain high plant availability and production efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have experience as a fixed plant fitter within an extractives or heavy industrial environment. It is desirable that you have experience in welding/fabrication.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • NEBOSH and/or IOSH Managing Safely
  • Time served mechanical/electrical apprenticeship
  • ONC/HNC or equivalent in mechanical engineering is essential
  • Electrical knowledge and experience in an inspection/reporting role is desirable

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards and be able to demonstrate leadership in this field
  • IT Literate, particularly Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong engineering problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Be proactive, proposing technical improvements by learning lessons from previous experiences
  • Be able to show good report writing skills in a clear and concise way
