Deputy Manager (Residential Care Home)

Pontefract Area

£33,000 per annum

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Care Home Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity that will be challenging and rewarding. You will be one of our two Deputy Manager's at a 50 residential bed home. You must enjoy working as a team and be able to maintain positive relationships with your management team, external stakeholders, CQC, Social Services and the local Safeguarding team. We are also looking for great leaderships skills and the ability to train, mentor, motivate and develop staff.

You will be expected to share some on-call duties with the Registered Manager and your fellow Deputy Manager.

Main Responsibilities

  • Promoting positive and Person-Centred Care for all Resident's.
  • Manage risk appropriately and safely.
  • Support the Registered Manager in leading and developing staff.
  • Help to ensure all staff are trained to the required levels.
  • Support with implementing and managing of audits and quality assurance structures.
  • Support with the safe recruitment, selection and retention of staff.
  • Work with the Registered Manager re staff communications, managing absence, disciplinaries and grievances.
  • Be highly responsive when referrals are received; and complete robust pre-admission assessments.
  • Support the Registered Manager to ensure the Home has the highest possible level of occupancy.
  • Be able to formulate holistic care plans, be actively involved in medication management, rota formulation and management of staffing, and complete staff supervisions and appraisals.
  • Have an awareness of MCA, BI's and DOLS applications; and experience of completing the same.
  • Train the Trainer certificates in any area is an advantage.

  • Must have a strong understanding of care delivery within a Residential Care Home setting.
  • Must have a resilient character, with high standards of integrity.
  • Strong leadership skills in the support of managing and motivating teams of staff.
  • The ability and drive to be caring and supportive of resident's and their relatives.
  • Experience as a Deputy Manager of a Care Home or similar.
  • Knowledge of CQC standards and experience in meeting CQC and Social Services requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in accordance with relevant legislation
  • Good knowledge and literacy of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook as a minimum)
  • Driving licence.
