Wind Developer - Onshore Wind and Hybrid Technologies

If you are an experienced Wind Developer with a strong track record in project development, great interpersonal skills and budget management then we want to hear from you.
This is a key role within the team, responsible for the development of Renewco Power's Onshore Wind pipeline business in the UK. You'll be focusing on prospecting a portfolio of 20+ projects and converting these into over 1GW of ready to build onshore wind projects with complementary hybrid technologies. The role will involve the site selection activities, development and implementation of EIA scoping strategies, project management of EIA studies, defining and managing surveys works and appropriate mitigation, obtaining consents, statutory stakeholder engagement, community engagement, project financial approvals and budgetary control.
About Renewco
Renewco Power is a newly formed renewable power business, with plans to become a leading European clean energy platform. Renewco will focus on developing utility-scale solar, wind and storage assets across Europe and US, with the aim of maximising the potential in clean energy projects. The company is targeting the development of over 4GW of renewable assets within five years.
Renewco's founders are a highly experienced and entrepreneurial group whose founders have over 100 years of combined renewables development and investment experience, having successfully developed more than 10GW+ of renewables in over 50 countries, raising more than £2 billion to finance these assets in the process.
Renewco Power was launched with a £24 million (€28 million) investment from Corran Capital who raised cornerstone funding from FTSE 100 utility, SSE plc. A further £24 million was raised to support the acquisition and development of a 1-3GW pipeline of solar projects in the US. SSE's financial support will enable Renewco to accelerate the implementation of the team's high growth strategy. Renewco will be based in Scotland, with hubs in London and a selection of European countries.
Key responsibilities of this Developer role:
- Managing projects from concept through the development phases ensuring that all consents are secured for deliverable projects with competitive LCOEs
- Identify, deploy and manage appropriate human resources from appointed consultants on a project basis
- Leading and recommending appropriate development strategies to the Head of Development
- Leading and providing input to all commercial agreements and contracts including leading solicitors and land agents to conclude option and lease agreements.
- Preparing and presenting project investment papers
- Agreement, management and forecasting of necessary budgets including ensuring budgets are delivered
- Management and actively identify all critical risks, issues and impacts of the project
- Providing point of contact for landowners and communities requiring information about the project
- Advising the Head of Development, CEO and members of Renewco's Board on the impact of technical/specialist risks and issues and the viability of solutions recommended
- Balancing technical detail with commercial needs and provide recommendations, taking into account all relevant risks
- Ensuring that all recommendations are documented and sufficient due diligence exists to support decisions
- Presenting decisions and recommendations to the Head of Development, CEO and Board
About you
You will need the ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary project teams along with managing relationships with regulators, local communities, consultants and landowners. In addition, the ability to engage with landowners and land agents to manage and complete all the land agreements associated with large scale renewable developments.
We are also looking for:
- Degree or equivalent experience in Environmental Management, Planning, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Land Management/Surveying
- Relevant professional qualification and/or experience in obtaining legal consents
- Proven Project Development experience in renewable energy developments (preferably development of onshore wind at utility scale)
- Experience and understanding of planning system and consenting regimes across the UK and ROI and land agreements for renewable energy developments
- Highly developed negotiation skills
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills
