We're looking for a Senior Design Manager to join our Highways team and be responsible for the leadership and management of the Kier Highways Structures Design Team based in Birmingham. Location: Birmingham - remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required

Contract: Permanent - Fulltime (flexible and part-time hours available if desired, just let us know)

Salary: £65k - £79k FTE


Responsibilities

As a Senior Design Manager, you'll be Supporting teams across the region to deliver the requirements of the design contracts for National Highways Major Projects, National Highways SDF, TfL, Local Authorities and South Wales Trunk Road Agency, whilst working safely and in accordance with regional and contractual processes.

Your day to day will include:
  • Line management of design team leaders
  • Managing and being responsible for the delivery of technical design outputs of projects or project portfolios to the meet client's briefs within time and budget
  • Complying with national UK design standards, procedures and requirements
  • Contributing to Value Management / Engineering to support Team Leaders and Project Managers in ensuring that schemes are delivered with innovation
  • Carrying out the checking and certifying of design deliverables (including drawings specifications, professional skill and care certificates, reports and contract documents, and authorising where appropriate

What are we looking for?

This role of Senior Design Manager is great for you if are:
  • Chartered member of a relevant professional institution (MICE / MIStructE or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable broad in-depth experience in inspection, assessment, design and construction of highway structures to UK standards and in the management of teams delivering such work.
  • Detailed understanding of health and safety management and the requirements of legislation.
  • Must be computer literate. Ability to work without supervision essential, you will have the drive and determination to meet targets.
  • Valid UK driving licence
