We are working with a international multidisciplinary consultancy to help them strategically shape their Health & Safety offering in the UK. Due to growth of the service line there is a need for a Head of Health, Safety & CDM to lead the business across Yorkshire and the North East, managing the existing team, whilst managing every commercial aspect of the safety business and delivering complex projects for clients.

Work ranges from medium to large scale projects spanning commercial, retail, residential and education, advising clients on HSE, CDM and design safety matters for complex frameworks.

This role will be based out of Leeds or Sheffield, leading an existing team with major growth targets to drive the business forward over the next 7 years. You will be joining a business with a hugely established health and safety offering, which already has a profitable workflow in the region. The Yorkshire/North East patch has reached a point where it needs a commercial figure to lead the service line who has business acumen alongside technical CDM/HS experience.

The role will suit someone who has a well-established track record of working in consultancy as an Associate, Associate Director, Director, Partner or Team Leader and who is adept at managing client relationships and leading and managing a team of H&S/CDM Consultants.

This is a Partner level role so will require a safety professional who can deliver technically, can manage team members and has wider commercial and financial qualities:

  • Ideally the successful candidate will be a Chartered Member of IOSH
  • Member of the Association for Project Safety (CMaPS or IMaPS) is also desirable
  • Ability to successfully manage complex Health, Safety & CDM projects within a consultancy environment. 50%
  • Line management experience is key. 20% 6ppl in the team across Leeds and Sheffield
  • Clear experience in generating new business, fee management and bids. 30%
  • Able to build and develop long-term client relationships
  • A successful track record in managing team finances and a P+L
