We're looking for a Safety Health and Environment (SHE) Advisor to join our Highways team based in either Retford (North Nottinghamshire) or Wymondham (Norfolk). Kier Highways Solutions provides a one-stop-shop end to end works management and delivery from carriageway treatment design, product manufacture, installation, temporary traffic Management through to civils, patching & road markings. Kier Highways Solutions have national coverage for the supply and installation of carriageway surface dressing and carriageway patching and have national traffic management delivery capability as well as a team of CAD designers providing traffic management design solutions. KHS also manufacture and sell bituminous road emulsions as well as bespoke bituminous products and roofing products. Location: Retford or Wymondham - With travel between locations plus national site visits

Contract: Permanent, full time, part time and flexible

Responsibilities

As SHE Advisor, you'll be working within the Safety Health and Environment team, supporting them with safety, health and welfare, providing assurance to management and clients that works are completed in accordance with SHE legislation. Providing expert advice and coaching to the delivery team, driving improvements in performance excellence and always looking to be better.

Your day to day will include:
  • Supporting the continued development of Kier's safety health and environmental management system with a key consideration of the principles around ISO 45001
  • Undertaking site, depot and office health and safety inspections, nationally, compiling relevant documentation and closing all corrective actions from audits
  • Aiding the occupational health team to provide expert advice to the contract delivery team, being the mediator between all parties around SHE issues
  • Communicating with a wide range of stakeholders across all levels and implementing key SHE policies effectively
Who are we looking for?

This role of SHE Advisor is great for you if you can:
  • Demonstrate SHE experience within a highways or construction environment
  • Provide a NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent and hold membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., Tech IOSH or above)
  • Drive and hold a full driving licence to travel across various sites / offices
