The Opportunity:

Do you want to be part of the best-connected station which is set to be the largest new railway station ever built in the UK in a single stage becoming one of the country's most vital transport super hubs?

Do you have previous experience in the program schedules, with heavy civils, Rail and substructures projects?

Are you a Senior Project Planner with heavy civil interface experience and with Civils background? We at Laing O'Rourke have a requirement for a Senior Project Planner to join one of our specialist projects based in London.

Laing O'Rourke's concrete frame and substructure specialist business Expanded is now fully underway with the construction of the main station box at Old Oak Common WP17. The main construction of the 850m-long reinforced concrete station box will form the frame and the base for the station building.

What will the role look like?

  • Provide leadership for the planning and coordination processes.
  • To implement and maintain the requirements of the Project Business Plan.
  • Ensure that all programmes are compliant with the Project requirements.
  • Ensure that the construction strategy and any recommended improvements are communicated.
  • Represent the project/business with all stakeholders.
  • Develop, maintain and update Contract Programme and Programme to Build in accordance with the project requirements
  • Provide strategic programmes - tender, procurement, design, construction, short term.
  • Coordinate with internal customers - commercial, design, customer care and construction
  • Responsible for the delivery of planning and coordination processes.
  • Commercial advice/implications on production/programme issues
  • Able to give advice on production issues with an understanding of the commercial issues and implications
  • Liaise with the site team to check on progress, and issues and review planned progress to ensure
  • Strategic Planning
  • Project/programme controls
  • Contract planning
  • Pre-contract planning and work control

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • Professional Qualifications: HNC / Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar.
  • On-site Project experience.
  • Good understanding of various forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications along with an understanding of risk and opportunity management.
  • Gained experience in developing relationships with client representatives.
  • Have a developing knowledge of strategic planning and project/programme management systems.
  • Planning and resourcing experience using Asta Powerproject.
  • Self-motivation, resource management, staff development and coaching.
  • Primavera P6
  • Navisworks or 4D planning (Synchro)
  • MS Office applications
