Responsibilities
Kier has been appointed by Severn Trent, to design & build the UK's first catchment-scale flood resilience programme. This involves the design and construction of a suite of interventions across Mansfield to improve the flood resilience of the town. The overall aim of the project is to remove 58,000 m3 of surface water run-off from the sewer network by constructing Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS). They work by diverting surface water away from sewers, slowing it down and helping the drains to cope.
Your day to day will include:
- Ensure all regulatory duties of Principal Designer are completed and recorded
- Lead the coordination of different packages of the permanent design and liaise with project construction to ensure buildability, programme coordination and quality to meet the works information
- Support the implementation and monitoring of Performance Excellence.?
- prepare detailed design briefs to designers and subcontractors and manage the requests for information to the Client
- Track, monitor, and promote design works through the necessary gateways to support a safe but speedy delivery on site.
- Relevant qualifications - degree level, or equivalent experience
- Strong background in civil engineering design and recent experience as part of a management team on civil engineering design projects in a regulated environment.
- It is highly desirable that the candidate has experience undertaking works in the public highways , and with experience in utilities/SUDS or comparable projects.
- Experience in monitoring and intervening in the delivery of design information to programme.
- Experience in buildability reviews and articulating the construction sequence and construction constraints.
- Experience is selecting or specifying appropriate temporary works to suit site conditions.
