Key Responsibilities

Due to growth, we are recruiting for a Project Director to join our Western & Wales region to work primarily on healthcare schemes in South Wales. Within the role, you will take full responsibility for a project being up to value of £100 million, from preferred bidder stage through to on site and completion, including management of the Client, Consultants and Stakeholders, in close liaison with the Operations Manager.



Duties and responsibilities within the role will include but not be limited to:



  • Overseeing projects from inception to completion
  • Be the team leader through Outline and Final business Case
  • With the preconstruction team arrange/manage meetings with key stakeholders and Client, control and management meetings for designers, staff, and subcontractors
  • Assist the pre-construction team on all aspects of the tender but in particular to advise on methodology, best construction solution, programme, cost efficiencies and staffing.
  • Liaise with the client and their advisors and fully understand their needs and expectations.
  • Responsible for instructing and co-ordinating technical consultants during the contract period
  • Responsible for appointing, instructing, monitoring and co-ordinating Subcontractors during the contract period and maintaining relationships with the supply chain
  • To lead and oversee the implementation of the Kier Health & Safety Management System and ensure Health & Safety, Environment legislation is complied with
  • Work closely with the project commercial staff to monitor cost and achieve targets


What do we need from you?



Applicants will have the following attributes:

  • SMSTS 5-day Course
  • Expert knowledge of construction industry, be familiar with modern construction techniques, methods and Building Regulations.
  • Detailed knowledge of safety, health, and environmental assurance
  • Develop and maintain relationships with trust and confidence
  • Experience in a range of projects e.g., refurbishment, education, industrial (commercial), healthcare is essential
  • Experienced with and capable of being part of a bid team and undertaking pre-construction planning
  • Commercial awareness
  • Good knowledge of NEC contract conditions and law within the Construction Industry
  • Leadership skills (plan, manage and direct people, material resources, mentoring of staff)
