Associate Fire Engineer Job in Manchester
Associate Fire Engineer job in Manchester for a growing international Fire Consultancy. You will be joining an existing team of 6, working across a variety of large-scale refurbishment and new build projects in The Midlands and The North. To be considered ideally you will be MIFIREE and CEng / IEng or working towards. The role offers a salary range of between £65,000 - £75,000 + Profit Share + Healthcare + 25 days Holiday + Hybrid Working.
Our client is an independent firm of fire safety designers, engineers, consultants and technology solutions specialists with offices in London, Manchester, Northern Ireland and Dubai. They work on exciting projects across Aviation, Transport, Leisure, Healthcare, Commercial, High-rise, Hotels, Industrial, Retail and Transport. Reporting to the Regional Director, you will be leading projects, delivering services to their private and public client base across Fire Safety Design, Construction Implementation, façade assessments, handover services, digital advisory and integrated fire advisory and technology solutions. This is a client-facing role developing new business growth across The Midlands and The North.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop the company brand and relationships across Manchester and the wider UK area
- Actively source, recruit and carry out onboarding of new team members
- Working with the Regional Director to drive profitable and sustainable work-winning and assist in maintaining up-to-date forecasting
- Identify work opportunities with internal teams, external clients, and design teams
- Assist the Regional Director to implement a business strategy and innovative strategic initiatives across the region
- Lead an engineering team to ensure the successful delivery of multiple engineering projects simultaneously from conception through to onsite completion
- Advise on and support the building design aspirations, functionality, and architectural form throughout the design process
- Leverage the latest smart technology to advance fire safety practices and services
- Support the development of business strategy and digital innovations
- Undertake business development activities including identifying potential workstreams. work winning and establishing a network of clients
- Manage others in developing and implementing fire strategies, projects, research initiatives and digital strategies
- Manage our external collaborators both in the UK and abroad
- Prepare reports, take part in design team meetings, and liaise with client representatives
- Manage financial performance on any assigned projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality design
- Support the development of more junior team members and check their work in accordance with technical standards and core operational procedures
- Develop fire engineering solutions on projects and ensure the fire engineering strategy is delivered
- Identify design-related issues and propose solutions as appropriate
Formulate fire strategies and advise external clients on implementation of fire regulations and standards
- Negotiate with approving authorities
- Produce engineering designs, calculations and specifications using appropriate software
- Prepare and develop fee proposals
- Assist with due diligence, passive fire protection and fire system surveys.
Required Skills & Experience
- Relevant Bachelors Degree, or equivalent professional qualification
- Ideally 7+ years of fire Engineering experience
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or IEng status or working towards
- MIFIREE or working towards
- Ability to lead multiple projects
- Ability to network and contribute to new project wins
- Excellent knowledge of UK fire safety codes, regulations, and standards
- Ability to manage the full life cycle of fire & life safety engineering projects
- Good report writing and presentation skills for client meetings
- Proficient in MS Office Suite is essential
- Experience in Fire Engineering digital services is preferred
- Experience with BIM, AutoCAD & Bluebeam preferred
- Experience using NFPA and IBC codes and standards preferred.
