Building on more than two decades of science led research and development, our client designs, manufactures pioneering power generation technology.

Quality Engineer What are we looking for

We have an opportunity for a Quality Engineer, you will form part of the Quality Team which has overall responsibility of ensuring that the whole product development process, systems, and final product manufacturing meets our high quality and safety standards.

You will contribute to development of the Quality strategy, policies, processes, standards & systems for the company, its supply chain to operate within.
* Day to day operation the company Business Management System.
* Writing procedures & processes to support the IBMS development.
* Lead & undertake audits across all areas of the business as well as across the supply chain as required.
* Support the Head of QHSE, in conjunction with all HoD, to provide departmental specific training for all employees training and champion the Business Management System.
* Work on many phases or sub-tasks of projects or entire projects of moderate complexity, with results impacting on project completion.
* Work under general supervision, reviewed at project milestones and/or on completion by Senior Management.


Quality Engineer Responsibilities
* Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience, supporting the Head of QHSE by:
* Oversee effective implementation of the Business Management System throughout the company, including any business accreditations.
* Maintain the Quality Manuals, Quality System Procedures, ensure contents are appropriate for business.
* Analyse current & future procedural needs of the business.
* Conduct Quality Systems audits & assist in training/guidance to other auditors.
* Host external Quality System audits.
* Provide training on Quality issues and business processes.
* Coordinate the review of Quality procedures associated with plant continuous improvement initiatives.
* Maintain change and version control of BMS documentation ensuring that quality & accuracy are maintained throughout the Review/Approval/Issue/Review process.
* Support other functional areas of the business including procurement, business services, design.
* Build strong working relationships with subject matter experts, technical leads, others.
* Undertake internal project & management audits during the tender, design & manufacture stages.
* Prepare quality data for monitoring targets.
* Assist with training in quality awareness tools, techniques.
* Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to adhere to process & prevent occurrence of any non-conformity relating to product, process, system.
* Assist with first off sample approvals.
* Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement - Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis.
* Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
* Quality control of work by appropriate reviews.
* Support and lead process improvement activities.
* Write reports present progress at project meetings and to clients.
* Achieve goals within budget.
* Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends.
* Undertake continuous training and development.
* Perform root cause analysis, resolve problems.
* Create, maintain the documented information storage system

Knowledge and Experience
* Engineering and/or Quality Qualification required HND/Degree or equivalent, Formal Quality Control or Quality Assurance training preferred
* Membership of an industry related Professional Body would be advantageous
* Previous experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably Aerospace or Automotive
* Experience of working in Quality Assurance 3 years
* Auditing qualification an advantage
* Working with an ERP / MRP
* Working in a manufacturing / engineering environment
* Reading engineering drawings and technical specifications

It would be advantageous if you had the following:
* Knowledge of quality systems, business systems
*Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning APQP, Production Part Approval Process PPAP, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis FMEA
* Knowledge of ISO9000 (AS9100 or TS16949 preferred)
* Understanding of ISO14001 & Health & Safety Practices
* Knowledge of problem-solving tools (8D, cause & effect, pareto, Ishikawa, Is/Is Not )
* Knowledge of process mapping techniques

Quality Engineer Skills and Abilities
* Analytical thinker
* Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel
* Can multi-task, prioritise and adapt to shifting business priorities
* Read & understand technical drawings, quality standards and work orders
* Create clear work instructions
