Quantity Surveyor About the opportunity Join the Portakabin culture of innovation, pushing the boundaries of what is possible to seek the best solutions for our clients. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Project Delivery team to proactively manage the financial and contractual aspects of our Sales division projects and drive continuous improvement of the commercial function within our Sales department based at our Head Office in York. Reporting to the Managing Surveyor, you will work closely with multi-disciplined teams and take commercial responsibility and ownership for the projects to ensure their successful delivery whilst maintaining relationships, maximising commercial returns and managing risk. Role Responsibilities
  • Project cost and risk management and cost forecasting (internal & external reporting).
  • Manage procurement of project subcontractors in conjunction with project buyer (where applicable).
  • Contract administration including issuing of notices, correspondence etc as applicable.
  • Lead on cashflow management including submission of applications for payment to clients and notification of payments to subcontractors.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and the supply chain.
  • Maximise project revenue, minimise cost and enhance margin.
  • Protect Sales E&W contractual position with both client & supply chain.

  • Salary: up to £60,000 (dependant on experience)

There is also great opportunity for career progression within Portakabin. Our Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who has:
  • A degree in quantity surveying / commercial management / related construction degree
  • Previous experience in a quantity surveying role within the UK construction industry
  • Understanding of traditional construction methods
  • Understanding of project delivery phases and associated quantity surveying actions
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective time management, organisational, interpersonal and negotiation skills
