We're looking for a Technology Electrical Engineer to join our Transportation team for testing, certifying and assessing electrical installations on National Highways (NH) technology. Ensure that any contractors and installers working on our schemes are complying to the relevant codes of practice for installations; specifically, BS 7671 but also the NH Standards for Highways. A current UK full driving license is essential for the role as site visits will be required. Location: Nationwide - remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required

Contract: Permanent Fulltime - flexible and part-time hours available if desired, just let us know

Salary: £competitive + £4.5k car allowance + benefits



Responsibilities

As a Technology Electrical Engineer, you'll be a valued member of the of the Kier Self Delivery Technology Team providing technical assistance, support and management (where required) with all activities relating to NH technology infrastructure and electrical systems within local schemes, maintenance contracts and major projects. Your day to day will include:

  • Lead the planning, delivery, testing and commissioning of technology infrastructure in line with agreed design specifically in relation to NH electrical systems
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, equipment, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause and correct the problem
  • Supervising the installation of all the electrical systems, equipment and components to ensure compliance with current standards


  • What are we looking for?

    This role of Technology Electrical Engineer is great for you if have:

  • A good understanding of highways technology asset needs with experience in technical areas such as Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), SCADA, CCTV, MIDAS, VMS & Signals, Highways Infrastructure - roadside equipment, power supplies and distribution, communications cable networks, NRTS, RCC in-station equipment
  • Qualified on 18th Edition Wiring Regulations & Electrical NVQ or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge and experience of National Highways standards and procedures.
  • be enrolled onto the Highways Electrical Association, Highways Electrical Registration Scheme, National Highways Sector Scheme 8, a portfolio will be created to track and record completion of modules in health and safety, first aid and specific discipline competencies
