We are looking for a Multi Skilled Mechanical Fitter / Technician to join our Maintenance team based in York. In this role you will assume a pivotal role in delivering maintenance and engineering services to our Manufacturing division. Your primary responsibilities encompass the repair, service, and testing, of our manufacturing assets ensuring continual availability.
Role Details
- Hourly Rate: £15.09 and £2.12, rising to £15.32 and £2.15 on 1st January plus Premium Shift Allowance
- Role based: Portakabin Ltd., New Lane, Huntington, York, YO32 9PT
- Contract type: Permanent
- Annual leave: 24 days of annual leave plus bank holidays
- Working Hours: Double Day Shifts:
- Morning Shift - working Monday to Thursday from 5:45am until 2:00pm and Fridays from 5:45am until 12:45pm
- Afternoon Shift - working Monday to Thursday from 13:45 until 23:45 and Fridays non-working day
Role Responsibilities
* Perform essential maintenance services on manufacturing equipment, prioritising safety, efficiency, and reliability.
* Diagnose, troubleshoot, and conduct repairs on assets to minimise downtime and enhance the operational longevity of equipment.
* Participate in factory reorganisation, new installations and the modernisation of production facilities and equipment.
* Manufacture jigs, fixtures, and tooling with precision by employing a variety of engineering processes, including milling, turning, welding, fitting, and assembly, while maintaining tight tolerances.
* Tackle various work assignments with flexibility and adaptability, involving the repair of both mechanical and electrical equipment.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment specifications.
* While carrying out your responsibilities, prioritise safety by taking utmost care to protect yourself, your maintenance colleagues, and others who might be affected by your actions or omissions.

Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who has:
* Completed a recognised electrical/mechanical apprenticeship to L3 NVQ or higher or City and Guilds qualifications in mechanical fitting and assembly or relevant subjects.
* Experience of machine maintenance and repair
* Principles of mechanical work, fitting and assembly
* Practical engineering ability
* Ability to maintain and repair of overhead cranes
* Principles of electrical work
* Experience of PLC systems
