Are you confident dealing with a variety of stakeholders? Do you always look at how you can improve the process ? At Laing O'Rourke we are looking for a Financial Analyst who can work collaboratively with the wider finance team.
The Financial Analyst is responsible for leading on the financial management of overhead budgets, including supporting the strategic plan of overheads. Developing and maintaining strong financial controls and processes, management of annual budgets, quarterly forecasting and monthly reporting.
The Financial Analyst will business partner up to executive level - the budget holder for each Overhead area - spearheading, influencing and challenging cost reductions.
Main Accountabilities:
- Business partnering with budget holders to report variance against plan and provide insights to drive improved performance
- Lead annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and monthly reporting (opex & capex)
- Reporting Overhead performance against budget, ensuring all month end adjustments are posted correctly and on time
- Be responsible for the preparation of Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Understand and report on the risks and opportunities for each Overhead area
- Drive cost savings and provide analysis to support management decisions
- Providing evidence and helping auditors with queries
- Perform scenario analysis and financial modelling on an adhoc basis as required by the business
- Support with submission, monitoring and reporting of Sustainability grants, liaising with external auditors, maximising grant income and tax rebates
- Lead on the Project costs recharge process
What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Advanced communication and influencing skills. An ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to build and maintain good working relationships
- Focused on meeting deadlines with the ability to prioritise workload
- Part or Fully Qualified Accountant
- Strong commercial acumen
- Strong financial and analytical skills
- Experience of managing budgets, forecasts and monthly reporting
- Intermediate level IT skills - particularly Excel and Power BI
- Experience using COINs , Tagetik, and/or OLAP cubes would be beneficial but not necessary.
- Experience presenting to non-financial stakeholders would be advantageous
- Experience of developing and improving processes
