Sustainability Consultant Job now available in Central London. An opportunity to join a dynamic architectural practice dedicated to shaping the future of sustainable architecture with a portfolio of projects in Europe and the UK! This role offers remote working and a salary of up to £50,000.

The last 18 months have seen this practice grow in staff numbers across all three offices in Ireland and with bigger plans for growth, they are now looking to add Sustainability Consultants with a strong focus on building certifications (LEED, BREEAM, WELL). In this role, you will drive high-performance, resource-efficient design strategies while managing certification processes across a diverse portfolio of projects.

This role is being offered as remote/hybrid, all applicants must be located in London or within a reasonable commute to the city.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the building certification processes (LEED, BREEAM, WELL, etc.), ensuring projects achieve the highest sustainability standards
  • Provide strategic guidance to project teams, embedding sustainability and wellbeing principles at every project stage
  • Contribute to the company's net-zero vision through in-depth computational analysis and design strategy
  • Develop environmentally resilient and human-centered solutions that enhance comfort, protect resources, and align with climate goals
  • Collaborate with both in-house and external teams to integrate sustainability seamlessly into architectural concepts
  • Embed environmental design principles early in the design process
  • Lead certification efforts, including developing project-specific strategies and ensuring compliance with all relevant criteria
  • Use computational simulations and analysis to optimise energy efficiency, comfort, climate response, and health in the built environment
  • Guide design teams in integrating environmental strategies seamlessly into architectural concepts, collaborating closely with our engineering team
  • Create compelling visuals, reports, and presentations to communicate insights to clients and design teams
  • Stay informed on global trends, policies, and innovations in energy-efficient design and resource management
  • Explore and help integrate innovative low and zero-carbon technologies in our projects.

Required Skills & Experience

  • A degree in Architecture, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field, with a Master's in Sustainable/Environmental Design, Building Performance, or equivalent experience
  • In-depth understanding of global sustainability frameworks and building performance standards, including LEED, BREEAM, WELL, and other key certification systems
  • Demonstrable expertise in facilitating building certifications such as LEED, BREEAM, and WELL, including successful project delivery from strategy development through to final certification
  • Proficient in using tools and software relevant to building certifications, such as One Click LCA, IES-VE, EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, and other simulation tools for assessing energy performance, lifecycle impacts, and sustainability
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and performance methodologies, including ASHRAE, CIBSE, Building Regulations (Part L) and European Standards
  • Experience in low-energy building strategies, passive design techniques, and bioclimatic design principles
  • Hands-on experience leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that sustainability goals are met within the scope of certification frameworks
  • Accredited or working towards professional accreditation (e.g., LEED AP, BREEAM Assessor, WELL AP)
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with a proactive, detail-oriented approach to handling complex certification processes across multiple projects
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • Proficient in CAD and 3D modeling software, with experience in platforms such as Rhino and Revit, to support sustainability and certification analyses
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within project teams
  • Eligible to work in the UK/Europe.
