Job Purpose

As a Junior Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a vital role in supporting companies Health and Safety Team to ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety across all construction sites. This entry-level role offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development within the health and safety field in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Site Inspections and Audits:

  • Assist in conducting regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and policies.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Support the implementation of health and safety regulations and company policies in line with local and national legislation.

Risk Assessments:

  • Assist in preparing and reviewing risk assessments and method statements for construction activities.

Training and Awareness:

  • Support the delivery of health and safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions for site personnel.

Incident Reporting and Investigation:

  • Record and report near-misses, accidents, and incidents, and participate in investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of site inspections, audits, and incident reports. Prepare reports and updates for the Health and Safety Manager.

PPE Compliance:

  • Monitor the availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by employees and contractors.

Promoting Safety Culture:

  • Encourage a proactive approach to health and safety by fostering a culture of awareness and accountability among all employees and subcontractors.

Qualifications, Key Skills & Competencies

  • A recognised qualification in Health and Safety.
  • Previous experience in a construction or health and safety-related role (e.g., internship or work placement).
  • Strong interest in health and safety within the construction industry.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations and construction practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel to various construction sites as required.
