Daniel Owen are currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor within the Rubery area for a Permanent position.
The Role
Our client is currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team, based in the Rubery area. This role will focus on delivering a range of planned works, including kitchen and bathroom refurbishments.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will report to the Senior Quantity Surveyor and collaborate closely with Operations Management. You will also have line management responsibilities for Assistant Quantity Surveyors, helping to develop and guide the team to success.
In this role, you will ensure accurate and timely reporting, playing a crucial part in the success and growth of the business. You will be responsible for fostering strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the company secures value for money and the correct market pricing from the supply chain.

Our client's contract covers over 17,000 properties across regions such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Leamington Spa, Coventry, Nuneaton, Northampton, Milton Keynes, and Bedford. They handle a diverse range of workstreams, including Repairs & Maintenance, Voids, Capital Works, and Re-Roofing.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the company secures its full entitlement within the scope of the contract, including commercial negotiations.
- Promote and uphold company values and procedures in all dealings, both internally and externally.
- Support the project team to achieve or exceed budgeted targets.
- Act as a subject matter expert for the application of schedule of rates and contractual arrangements.
- Maximise cash flow through monthly invoicing, resolving client queries, and ensuring timely receipt of payments.
- Monitor and analyse management information, job costs, and revenue to support operations and finance, enabling data-driven decision making.
- Identify potential disputes early and report them to the line manager.
- Ensure subcontractor orders accurately reflect the main contract requirements and scope of work.
- Assist in the preparation and timely reporting of Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR), Cost Value Comparisons (CVC), and management accounts, providing governance and robust cost control.
What You Will Need
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
Essential Criteria:
- QS degree or equivalent training and relevant experience.
- Strong numeracy and organisational skills.
- Advanced data interrogation skills.
- High proficiency in IT, particularly Excel (V-Lookup, Pivot Tables, and formula development).
- Solid understanding of contract conditions.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Line management experience and a proven ability to develop people.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant contract conditions.
- Experience in re-measuring high-risk packages and trades.
- Ability to control costs in line with budget.
- Proactive in providing feedback to improve systems and controls.
- Adaptability and the ability to assist in implementing change.
Desired Criteria:
- Working towards MCIOB or RICS membership.
