Overview Of Role.

The job holder must be committed to the London Underground General Safety & Environmental Policy statement and the Company's safety & environmental programme and be aware of his/her contribution to the programme, including the requirement to monitor safety performance and compliance with the systems established to assist in maintaining high safety & environmental standards.

The job holder must be familiar with the safety & environmental legislation that is relevant to his/her post and comply with the necessary statutory requirements. These will include the Health & Safety at Work Act, Fire Precautions Act 1971 and associated regulations.

Licences Required for this role:-

Entry permit

Fire licence core

Fire licence engineering

Depot track accustomed person

Track accustomed person

Track trolley operator

Abrasive wheel regulations

Clean Driving licence

Experience & Qualifications

Thermic Welding - TW3, RT3

Manual Metal Arc - MMA 1-4, MMA 5 (desired) and MMA 7

Prepare for welding asset

obtain authorisation and specifications

ensure all appropriate PPE is available

ensure equipment transported to the site safely

Thermic weld rails

correctly identify rail and site

assemble cutting equipment

cut the rail

ensure that the rails are in line ready for welding

prepare equipment ready for welding

weld the rail

remove welding equipment

profile grind the weld and refit fastenings

inspect weld

Weld repair crossing and Rail defects

identify cracks and grind out

ensure all cracks have been removed - MPI/DPI tests

pre-heat the rail

weld the rail

profile grind the weld

inspect weld - MPI/DPI tests

Weld conductor rails

ensure equipment is correctly prepared and safe for use

cut rail and weld preps

weld the rail

profile grind the weld

Restore work area

Restore asset to a safe condition

Record results

Clean down the site

Develop Self

Maintain expert Knowledge

Review Performance
