Senior / Principal Hydrologist - Dublin or Cork (Hybrid)

Are you an experienced hydrologist looking for your next challenge? A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior or Principal Hydrologist to join a dynamic and growing environmental consultancy, with offices in Dublin and Cork.

This role will see you working within a multidisciplinary Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) team, delivering a broad range of hydrology-focused services across the energy, commercial property, housing, and manufacturing sectors.

You'll be responsible for leading technical assessments, developing sampling and monitoring programmes, and providing expert input to projects from planning through to permitting and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality technical reports to support EIAs, environmental licensing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and review Flood Risk Assessments (Stage I-III).
  • Design and manage environmental sampling and monitoring programmes.
  • Oversee fieldwork, including groundwater and surface water monitoring, trial pitting, peat probing, and geophysical surveys.
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members and contribute to recruitment and team development.
  • Represent the business as an expert witness, where required, in oral hearings or legal proceedings.
  • Lead or support responses to tenders and proposal development.

About You:

  • Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Geoscience, or a related discipline; a postgraduate qualification in Hydrology is desirable.
  • 4+ years' (Senior) or 8+ years' (Principal) experience in hydrology or related environmental consultancy.
  • Proficient in Flood Risk Assessment methodologies and relevant software.
  • Chartered (or working towards) status with a recognised professional body.
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation and industry best practices.
  • Proven experience working on complex infrastructure or renewable energy projects is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Full clean driving licence.
