Flights or ferry and accommodation are provided throughout the duration of the contract with the transport costs covered at the start and end of each term.
The island offers a wealth of Primary, Secondary Schools and Colleges. We are recruiting for an established college who are seeking an Access Lecturer
This college receives over 5,000 enrolments per year offering a wide range of Academic, Vocational ad HE programmes to a vast age range of students. This college prides itself on inclusivity, Adult and Community Education also providing a huge selection of leisure courses for the Balliwick community. The role will be needed from 4th November, this will be reviewed at Easter but it is likely to be ongoing for the full academic year. The college are offering a day rate of £150 per day + Holiday Pay and Flights and accommodation are provided for during the contracts. Flights to and from provided at the start and end of each term- half term flights not included.
Role responsibilities
Plan, prepare and teach lessons at all levels appropriate to qualifications or experience in accordance with the agreed contract.
Plan, develop and deliver appropriate learning plans for individual students.
Contribute to the development, implementation and review of policies and schemes of work.
Monitor and assess the achievement of students, and to record and report the development, progress and attainment of students in accordance with the College's assessment policies and in line with the principles of Assessment for Learning.
Make use of current technology to enhance teaching and learning. 6. Be a personal tutor to an assigned group of students and to carry out the associated academic and pastoral responsibilities as required. 7. Implement the College's inclusion and equal opportunity policies. 8. Ensure that teaching assistants or other support staff and visiting speakers are used effectively in the learning environment
The Lecturer will plan and provide high quality teaching as well as taking shared responsibility for the tutorial and pastoral support of at least one group of learners.
Ensure all materials for all live courses such as hand outs, assignments, specifications, resources etc. to be available to students and staff online using GCFE's defined Virtual Learning Environment.
Increased technology in classrooms, such as cameras, iPads, apps, websites etc. 10% of all we deliver (6,000 hours) to be delivered online as part of a blended learning approach, by September 2017
The person & qualifications
A teaching qualification
Experience of working with learners with Special Educational Needs in an FE environment.
Proven experience of the delivery and administration of ASDAN/Functional Skills suite of qualifications.
Professional qualifications, relevant vocational experience, and understanding and skills relevant to the specific responsibilities of the post.
Ability to make effective use of ICT to enhance teaching and learning.
An ability to demonstrate effective strategies to achieve high quality teaching and learning.
Evidence of recent continuing professional development.
The ability to work as part of a team.
Effective communication skills to a wide range of people (staff, parents, students and employers).
Effective organisational, time management and administrative skills.
Proven ability to work on own initiative.
Experience of supporting learners with Special Educational Needs in the workplace.
Knowledge of City & Guilds and Edexcel functional skills qualifications. .
