The Opportunity:

Select is seeking to recruit an Accounts Assistant who is responsible for processing all system invoices/credit notes and loading all external billing information for Select & Joint Venture (JV). Laing O'Rourke's specialist trading business Select is one of the UK's largest and most capable, suppliers of equipment and services to the construction industry.

The ideal candidate will hold a fundamental role within the department and must ensure that systems issues are captured and resolved during the month-end process to ensure that monthly revenue and cost are accounted for correctly. Other financial support to the finance team will also be required on a monthly basis to help maintain accounting and financial controls.

What will the role look like?

  • Responsible for the Month End Asset Costing process & Internal Sales Ledger
  • Providing monthly invoices and back up to the JV's after month end
  • Internal Transport Sales Ledger invoicing for JV's - uploading transport files in Coins OA
  • Resolving transport queries in a timely manner and ensuring JV's team provide correct credits etc to projects
  • Ensure monthly management and depot charges are invoiced out and assist with raising the buyback credits.
  • Working part of the Credit Control department & responsible for a pool of external customers - sending invoices, backup, statements, resolving queries and chasing overdue debt.
  • Responsible for the Select Fixed Asset Disposals Analysis
  • Select Quarterly VAT Returns / Adjustments & Forecasts
  • Quarterly National Statistics Reporting
  • Monthly Intrastat Reporting
  • VAT Balance sheet Reconciliation
  • Posting of journals and accruals
  • Assisting with year-end Audit
  • Adhoc reporting and analysis for Select Finance Function

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • Strong communication and influencing skills. An ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to build and maintain good working relationships
  • Focussed on meeting deadlines with the ability to prioritise workload
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams
  • Strong IT skills - particularly Excel
  • COINS System - preferable
  • Customer Focused
  • Proactive and organised
  • Able to self-manage and work under pressure
  • Intercompany experience
  • Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT)
