Location: Birmingham / Midlands

Kier and our alliance with Canal and River Trust is looking to recruit an Agent who will report to the Senior Project Manager. The successful post-holder will be responsible for but not limited to, specify, schedule and manage the engineering resources (people and physical assets) in order to ensure the technical compliance of the assigned project to the design specification and to implement the safety plan, on time and to the required quality while maximising customers' satisfaction and gross profit. The role will initially be based in the Birmingham area on a major civil engineering scheme that has already been won.
Key Responsibilities:
  • To implement and comply with Kier Group's SHE policy and procedures, All Health and Safety issues on site, completion of records
  • To support achieving the planned gross profit on the role.
  • To lead, manage and motivate the engineering and design staff on the project and to establish its full contribution to the organisation.
  • To work out and plan engineering requirements for internal and external resources
  • Responsible for the monthly cost and value figures for the area
  • Carry out on the job training of team members where necessary
  • Any other suitable duty requested of you
  • To achieve technical compliance of the project to the design specification
  • Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Holder of a Full UK Driving Licence
  • HND in Civils Engineering or equivalent
  • Sound engineering judgement
  • People & project management skills
  • Commercial & contractual awareness
  • Knowledge/experience in Microsoft Project, to facilitate accurate programme production
  • Knowledge/experience in Microsoft Excel, to facilitate accurate site reporting.
  • Knowledge & experience of Partnering & target Cost framework contracts
  • Able to work under pressure, using their own initiative
  • Methodical, conscientious and organised
  • Working in and around inland waterways would be an advantage
  • Participate in early contractor involvement as appropriate
  • Strong communication skills, contributing to a professional telephone manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with clients
  • Self-motivated and ability to motivate others
  • Highly organised individual with a strong attention to detail
