Kier Design and Business Services are looking for someone to work as an integral part of a multi disciplinary design team producing high quality, comprehensive sets of detailed drawings and specifications in REVIT which will enable projects to be completed within agreed cost and budget parameters, running projects on site, and managing more junior members of the team.


Key responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and advise on environmental, legal and regulatory issues
  • Contribute to planning applications and other regulatory issues and applications
  • Assessing what surveys are required before work can start and ensuring that they are undertaken and their results fed into the project
  • Preparing and presenting detailed drawings using computer aided design methods
  • Participating in the detailed design process and the production and co ordination of design information.
  • Liaising with appropriate authorities when producing documentation for statutory approval.
  • Contribute to design risk assessments, principal designer duties.
  • Administer contracts and visit sites as required.
  • Support local and national sales and bids as appropriate.
  • Managing more junior members of the team.
  • Regional coverage of projects within the North West and nationally.



  • Qualifications:

    • Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (MCIAT or ACIAT) , or HNC/Degree, with extensive relevant experience.
    • Full clean driving licence

    Knowledge/ experience:

    • Knowledge of all current construction regulations. Up to date with developments within the construction industry
    • Proven and extensive relevant experience incl. education projects, blue light, health and leisure.
    • Use of NBS Create
    • Knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts including full service and Design and Build
    • Able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of building construction with an ability to analyse work by other technician's and designer's and give guidance on best practice, whilst showing a great awareness of the impact on other disciplines'
    • Ability to work as part of a multi disciplinary team
    • Ability to work to programme and agreed deadlines
    • Regular use and familiarity of REVIT BIM up to level 2 and all relevant IT and CAD software packages.
    Salary: circa £32,000 dependent on experience
