Kier Strategic Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Assistant Asset Incident Watchmen to join our Area 6 &8 contract.


Kier Highways design roads, bridges and intelligent transport systems (ITS), covering strategic and nationally important roads, as well as local roads serving local communities.

Our projects range from major improvements to complete renewals of roads and structures. With specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to handover at the end of maintenance periods.

Your responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage incident scenes, including liaison with NCC, internal resources, supply chain members, emergency services and Silver Command. Produce accurate records to illustrate all incident details as required.
  • Assist in undertaking safety patrols and recorded inspections to identify defects that require physical intervention and identify other defects that may require increased levels of inspection/monitoring.
  • Understand and make appropriate use of IMS procedures to actively promote health and safety, risk assessments, programming of works, updating asset on the network.
  • Assist in managing an assigned route of the network and take ownership of all issues and operations within this area in line with the MRP
  • Participate in an out of hours call out rota for Bronze command and Severe Weather events.
  • Identification and appropriate categorisation of defects, assess need for temporary repair and measure defects for permanent repairs to all assets.
  • What are we looking for?:
  • Applicants should be IT literate and have strong database skills
  • Experience of highway inspection and maintenance.
  • Experience of Incident management.
  • Experience of Winter maintenance activities
