Introduction: Kier Construction Western & Wales is looking for an Assistant Building Services Manager to join the Bristol team. The very successful business have an abundance of awarded work for the upcoming years, and needs someone like you to work on a variety of projects including education (new build schools), healthcare, commercial (including a city centre hotel), high rise (student accommodation) and public sector schemes.
Key responsibilities:
  • Ensure designers risk assessments are completed and issued, and that designs are appraised for their ability to be built safely and where possible, incorporate company best practice
  • Provide technical assistance in tendering, through qualitative responses to submission documents
  • Manage options, alternatives and design solutions throughout all the stages of design
  • Ensure that adequate M&E management and co-ordination is applied to all stages of design development including optioneering, value management and review of alternatives
  • Ensure that the management of drawing/information issue and distribution systems for designers, and Construction Design Packages with specialist subcontractors is maintained
  • Identify and manage design deficiencies, discrepancies at all stages of design development
Skills and experience required:
  • Experience of working within a construction environment is essential
  • NVQ/HND/HNC/CIBSE or equivalent qualifications
  • Ability to organise, plan and manage workloads with excellent communication skills for teamwork
  • Be able to work on your own initiative, meet deadlines and be self-motivated
