Our client, a National Blue Chip Company requires a Group Assistant Crane Manager (Salary guide £30,000 to £33,000 with company car, including electric car option or car allowance available, phone, Laptop and Company Pension). The company head office based in Derbyshire, but work will cover UK national.
The Assistant Crane Manager role is aimed at lifting some of the workload involved in the above and assisting with the day-to-day management of around £6m turnover of work per annum.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that she/he would be capable of initially following some training before being able to undertake the procurement and remote management of all construction hoists, whilst assisting with the procurement of mast climbers and cranes. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to work with the teams to see the successful installation of plant including the following tasks:
Duties to include:
Procurement of orders and co-ordinating the installation and other associated works of around:
* 20/25 tower cranes per year.
* 20/25 construction hoists.
* 50/60 Mast climbers.
* Selection of suitable plant with site teams.
* Placing orders with suppliers.
* Coordinating delivery to suit site programmes of work.
* Coordinating temporary connections.
* Attending site for hoist installs and familiarisation of site teams with hoist procedures.
* Receipt of invoices for checking and processing.
* Single point of contact for hoist suppliers and likewise back up for site teams to deal with any issues arising during the hire.
* Using third party supply chains to operate and supervise cranes - our client currently has 25 operatives working with 16 tower cranes.
* Candidate will be taking on co-ordination of these operatives including new sites and holiday/sick cover.
* Crane Safety Audits . These are undertaken quarterly (15 cranes x 4 quarters = 60 crane audits per year) these are undertaken by a third party, the job would include:
* Shadow / support Auditors on occasion.
* Collate and process invoices.
* Receive audits and distribute to Safety advisors.
* Chase and close out actions and issue closed out audits.
* Collate quarterly reports.
Familiarisation / Site Support:
* Set up/print and populate the 3 crane folders
* Training to take over the familiarisation day with the crane folders/procedures
Other duties:
Our client annually quotes for in excess of 150 cranes issuing info to suppliers for quoting for Cranes, chase return of quote and issue to Estimator/Planner/Quantity Surveyor.
Work would include:
* Scheme development.
* Appraisal / site visits.
* BAPA paperwork submittals with site teams.
* Assist sites with completion of SPF forms (for cranes as per current and new procedures for Mast climbers and hoists once in place).
* Weekend cover for E and D of cranes.
* E and D surveys with crane suppliers.
* Supplier visits/audits.
* Civil aviation point of contact.
Future projects:
* Hook cam - cradle to grave (hire and management of from 3rd party supplier).
* Security monitoring of cranes (hire and management of from 3rd party supplier).
* Potential to extend familiarisation / audit to hoists and mast climbers.
Admin:
* Collate all weekly invoicing for sign off by DS, then process and file.
* Collate all monthly invoicing for sign off by DS, then process and file.
* Manage operator hire agreements with Agency/site.
* Create and manage operator directory (training records, crane familiarisation and so on).
* Raise plant orders for cranes and lifting accessories and all ancillary items.
* Raise plant orders for hoists.
* Create and run a live plant register for all lifting accessories owned by the company on all sites.
* Create/Collate plant reliability reports (cranes/hoists/MC).
* Create and update fuel management/usage reporting for cranes/generators.
