We are now recruiting for an Assistant Design Engineer to join our Highways team in Birmingham to provide technical support on various contract within Kier Design & Technology Services such as Current contracts include Local Authority Highway Works, National Highway Area & Regional Contracts.
Key Responsibilities
In this exciting Assistant Design Engineer role, you'll prepare preliminary and detailed designs in accordance with approved design procedures for local and national authorities and provide support to the Design Engineer & Senior Engineer on a various design duties including assistance of production of design schedules, Health, Safety and Welfare contract documentation and production of design drawings. You'll also assist in the delivery of technical and feasibility studies that satisfy the client's technical specifications and assist in the assessment of potential risks, materials and costs. In addition, you'll comply with Kier's & Clients guidelines and regulations including permits, safety and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required.
What do we need from you?
- A Civil Engineering Qualification (HNC, HND or BSc BEng or similar) with relevant experience - Essential
- Member of an accredited body (ICE/CIHT) - Desirable but not essential
- Suitable relevant experience of working in an engineering consultancy
- A sound knowledge of AutoCAD and similar design packages.
- Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D would be an advantage
- Experience in highway design would be an advantage
- A full driving licence.
