We're looking for an Assistant Network Manager to join our Highways team based in the Coldharbour Depot, Aylesford to assist the Network Manager in the management, efficient identification and timely development/delivery of planned maintenance, reactive works and self-delivery schemes within your designated Area, to budget and on time. Work closely with the Network Hub based programme team to co-ordinate maintenance and scheme works. Ownership of the Incident Response & Severe Weather rotas for your specific area. There may be the need to travel occasionally outside of Area 4. Responsibilities

As an Assistant Network Manager, you'll be working within the Highway team actively promoting Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System (SHEMS)

Your day to day will include:

  • Supporting the Network Manager in the efficient implementation and adherence to set lump sum and cyclic maintenance budgets, ensuring that resources are managed and fully utilised within budget targets
  • ensure all CDM and safety regulations are followed and embedded within the culture of the team
  • manage the performance, training and development of direct reports. Provide direction, training and motivation necessary to ensure the optimum commitment and competence of direct reports and their teams to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the network for all users
Who are we looking for?

  • experience in delivering highway maintenance activities
  • experience in managing individuals and teams
  • ability to accommodate flexible working patterns, particularly around periods of severe weather or significant incident response to emergencies or planned operations
