Assistant Project Manager
Location: working from home you will need to be able to regularly travel a radius of London to the West (Bristol) and South West (down to Cornwall). Occasional overnight stays and occasional travel outside of the specified area will be required to support the business needs.

Contract: full time, permanent,
Salary: circa £30k- £40k + car/allowance
Kier Places are looking to recruit an Assistant Project Manager to support project delivery to a prestigious Facilities Management contract we hold with the Ministry of Justice, Home Office and the Government Property agency, covering 400 buildings. Assisting several Project Manager's, you will be based from home wherever that may be, and although predominantly covering London and the East, South East with occasional overnight stays, the role will need to cover a multitude of locations to support project delivery.
Some projects will be working within prison environments escorting contractors, as well as within Home Office and MOJ buildings that Kier manage. Project values will range from £10k to £5mil delivering construction, refurbishment and hard services type work so an M&E background would be ideal - if you're an engineer looking to move into project management this role could also be for you.
Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Project Manager is a customer facing role within high level government departments and its main objective will be to support the project managers in day to day project delivery, in line with Keir's health and safety standards at all times. This will include site set up, inductions, prestart meetings, progress meetings, and weekly reporting.
You will ensure customers' needs are met and project delivery is to a good standard, within an extremely fast passed projects team that complete over 100 projects a month. The successful candidate will develop and maintain business relationships and oversee several schemes reporting to the senior project manager.
What do we need from you?
Ideally the successful Assistant Project Manager will have previous experience within a similar role within the commercial facilities service industry or have a mechanical and electrical background.
If you don't already have it, SMSTS (Site management safety training scheme) training will be provided to ensure you are knowledgeable in the project field. Additional training will be provided, including mentoring and college qualifications. High level IT skills in Word/Excel are essential as well as good writing skills for report writing.
Kier will support career progress as the candidate will receive training and experience working alongside a highly qualified team. The successful candidate must have career aspirations to become a project manager , delivering sizeable project works and demonstrate the ability to manage their won portfolio.
You must be prepared to spend time away from home overnight and regular travel, with a full, driving licence.
