We have an exciting opportunity for a Assistant Quarry Manager to work as part of the Business Leadership Team, leading and managing all aspects of production at our Grovebury Quarry operations in Leighton Buzzard. About the role You will lead all operational staff by example and encouragement, to set standards ensuring that they are able to perform their roles to these standards. Elements to the role include: Manage all personnel and ensure that they are trained and developed in line with appraisals and development plans, ensuring that progress is reviewed against agreed targets Ensure sufficient competent staff or contractors are available to cover sickness, shift rotas, and holidays Deal with personnel matters (i.e. Disciplinary, Grievance, Absence Management, Coaching) as required in a professional and confidential manner, seeking advice when required from Human Resources or line management Take on an 8(1)(c) appointment and ensure that all production activities are carried out in accordance with the requirements of all statutory legislation, the Company Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Safe Systems of Work To have consideration for the health, safety and welfare of all employees, contractors and visitors within the confines of the Company Policy Manage the environmental impact of the activities to the practical minimum with due regard to Company policy & procedures, best practice and legal obligation Monitor and continuously improve operational performance through use of Operational Excellence tools and practices including the involvement in daily site briefs, weekly data review, and monthly performance meetings Manage cost effective operations against the agreed budget, within your control Liaise and co-operate with other managers as necessary and contribute to the overall management of the business and development of the Management Team To agree and review appropriate maintenance standards with the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure that all plant is in a safe condition and subject to planned maintenance, in order to optimise plant output and efficiency within operational budget What will you bring? Understanding of Quarry Regulations, Statutory Health & Safety and Employment legislation Self-motivated, with initiative and a proactive approach Demonstrable experience of a similar or equivalent role Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relations with others Detail and results orientated with strong personal values to succeed Understanding of budgets and financial responsibility Be able to plan and prioritise effectively Experience of working as part of a highly functioning team What’s on offer?
