We're delighted to advertise a new position for an Assistant Quarry Manager at our Cwt y Bugail Quarry working for our world renowned Welsh Slate business. Located in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park, Cwt y Bugail is exceptionally unique and owing to its remote location the role does come with some challenges, but the views more than make up for it!

At Welsh Slate, we can offer a truly different quarrying role and our teams take immense pride in their work and the production of our slate products. We are very ambitious and you'll be instrumental in supporting our Operations Manager in growing the Cwt y Bugail site. As a whole we endeavor to grow the slate product portfolio from our quarries and continue to expand our footprint and we'd like to take you on that journey with us.

As an Assistant Quarry Manager you'll assume a greater level of responsibility for managing the plant and leading the team; with safety being the number one priority. If you want to build a career and envision yourself in a management role one day, this is the position for you.

Do you have…?

  • Supervisory experience in a quarry (or similar) environment
  • A full UK driving licence
  • NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Health and Safety and/or NEBOSH qualification (advantageous)
  • As an Assistant Quarry Manager you will support the safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of the quarry. You will support the Operations Manager to instil a culture of health and safety best practice by leading in the creation of a culture of SHE continuous improvement. You will also support the maintenance and administration of all files, records, information and documentation to comply with H&S legislation, company procedures, environmental permitting for Cwt y Bugail Quarry. But its not all administration, you'll still be getting your hands dirty and working with the team to run the quarry!
