We have a really exciting new position for an Assistant Quarry Operations Manager to support the reactivation of Coleman’s Quarry, a limestone quarry at Holwell, near Nunney on the Mendip Hills, in Somerset. You will help with getting the site up to the required standards to operate and implement quarry development plans. This is a fantastic area that is popular with climbers, hillwalkers and natural historians, close to Wookey Holes Caves and Cheddar Gorge. About the role As an Assistant Quarry Operations Manager, reporting to the Site Manager you will have a wide-ranging role; you will take charge of production and hands-on maintenance. When deputising for the Site Manager, you'll also be responsible for promoting a strong Health & Safety culture in line with protocol and health & Safety legislation. Optimising production targets is a priority. You will be an experienced people manager with a proven track record of managing or supervising people in a production capacity. You need be to a very strong all-round communicator and influencer, at all levels, with the ability to remain calm under pressure. Your well-developed fault-finding skills complement an analytical approach you will manage the production and extraction activities, recruit and train staff, troubleshoot technical problems and oversee the maintenance of equipment and vehicles. You will be required to conduct risk assessments and health and safety inspections. You will also have a variety of administrative duties, from writing reports and updating records to procurement and budget control, IMS, managing Health and Safety and control site coordination. What will you bring? Demonstrable experience of a similar or equivalent role Understanding of Quarry Regulations, Statutory Health & Safety and Employment legislation. Self-motivated, with initiative and a proactive approach Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relations with others Detail and results orientated with strong personal values to succeed Understanding of budgets and financial responsibility ?What’s on offer?
