LOCATION: Taunton, Somerset

Assistant Site Manager required for a new build construction project in Taunton. Our client is a nationwide main contractor who specialises in the construction and fit-out of schools, hospitals and commercial buildings. We are looking for an Assistant Site Manager to join their team on an established new build school project, located just outside of the town centre. The site is easily accessible via public transport, is a 10 minute drive from Jct 25 of the M5 and has on-site parking. The expected duration of the role is 5 months. With other sites in the local area there is a potential to secure future work based on good performance.

Reporting to a Site Manager with several years experience in the industry, the role will suit an experienced Assistant Site Manager or a candidate who is new to the role and looking to start their career in construction management.

Supporting the Site Manager, the day to day duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensuring sub contractors and direct labour are aware of responsibilities and targets
  • Engaging site staff with site inductions, toolbox talks and any updates on site specific health and safety protocol
  • Supervise and monitor sub contractors and direct labour to ensure works are carried out to required standards
  • Creating and returning progress and production reports to higher management
  • Monitor material levels to ensure production needs are met

Key Skills & Requirements:

  • SMSTS
  • CSCS
  • First Aid
  • Management skills
  • An up to date knowledge of health and safety in construction
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Two recent references
