If you're an assistant site manager, site supervisor, or foreman AND if you are looking to become a Site Manager then this is the job for you! I am working with a main contractor who are working on schools projects within the ESFA Framework. With a growing number of projects across London they are looking for a young, budding assistant site manager to join their existing team. Unlike some of the larger 'machines' within construction, my client are a growing main contractor where the contracts managers are still accessible, and determined to grow their team from within. They look to support and develop their staff and by that virtue have become a great place to work. They have a host of sites across London, particularly new build and refurbishments within education between £1 - £7 million.
So what are they looking for?
- Loyalty: My client are after someone who has worked, ideally, in a permanent position within construction, and has a stable track record.
- Suitability: Preferably, they are after someone with experience within the education however, they will consider someone working for another main contractor - perhaps coming through their graduate programme in a different sector.
- Qualified: Ideally you will have a relevant qualification (HNC/ HND/ NVQ) in Construction Management or similar or have very relevant experience.
- Driven: You must have a passion about building and a drive to develop a career in the industry. My client boast a low staff turnover and are after individuals who are looking to grow and develop within a business.
To the successful candidate go the spoils, and to that end you will have a salary between £30 000 and £35 000 (dependant on experience), a discretionary bonus based on company performance and site completion and travel allowance. Moreover you will be working in a progressive environment with a company that will put you on external Asta Powerproject training courses and in house training to become a well rounded assistant. With the right attitude, following of processes and willingness to learn, the successful candidate will soon find themselves a site manager within 18-24 months.
