Barrier Man (R&M - Traffic Management

We have an opportunity for a positive committed person to join our busy Repair & Maintenance and Mainlaying Teams working on the Bristol Water Term Contract (potable water). Based in Bridgwater Bristol, this role involves managing the signing, lighting & guarding (SLG) for excavations both on the public highway and on private land.

Reporting to the depot Supervisor your duties will include:

  • Deliver, set up and collect, traffic lights/signs/barriers to and from site in accordance with Chapter 8 Regulations.
  • Works entail serving multiple sites on a day by day basis.
  • Maintain depot tidiness, barriers, stores and traffic lights.
  • Transporting stores and materials around the company area to support the depots.
  • Coning and letter dropping for R&M team works
  • Close liaison with the contract scheduling team on a job by job basis.
  • Support the operational teams with day to day traffic management requirements (SLG)
  • This role entails extensive driving, with the need to tow traffic lights as and when required.


Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • NRSWA unit 2 minimum (SLG)
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Knowledge and Understanding of IT
  • Good Knowledge of Bristol Water Area
  • Physically fit and able to undertake manual work.
  • Must be able to undertake early (7am start) and late (7:30p.m finish) shifts and participate in a rota for weekend work.
  • A good team player with flexible attitude, and good problem solving skills.
  • Previous experience of working on utility contracts preferable
  • Experience of dealing with Customers


The successful applicant will have the following work pattern: 47.5hrs per week to be worked between 7.00am and 7.00pm (rota) to be based at one of our three operating depots
