Position - Bid Manager

Salary and benefits - Competitive salary plus full package, including company car or car allowance, healthcare, matched pension totalling up to 15%, 2x share options, numerous retail discounts and up to 10% off new Kier homes

Location - Within 1 hour commute of Cambridge


Key Responsibilities:
  • To work ethos of the Company Vision & Values
  • To maintain the security and confidential status of all information so designated; to conduct all activities in a professional manner at all times
  • To assist the Sales Team in developing the business
  • To manage and prepare bids in accordance with company operating procedures
  • To challenge the solution development with the bid modelling and operational teams
  • To ensure that the solution developed is the most competitive ensuring profitability for the business
  • To support or lead the risk management and commercial negotiations where required in the absence of the salesperson
  • To develop the sales presentation and attend solution presentations to the client where required
  • To ensure a full and complete handover to the mobilisation team
  • To supervise bid production including writing content and designing the bid
  • To work with the Sales Team to develop winning bid strategies
  • To contribute to the search for business opportunities
  • To mentor and develop bid production and bid modelling skills
  • To support the preparation of Settlement Papers for sign off by Business Directors and associated parties
  • The jobholder may be required to undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required of him/her in the post mentioned above, or in a comparable post within the company


Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • The jobholder needs to have a background in a similar services type environment, or obtained a high level of education in relevant subjects, or be willing to undertake training both internal and external to the company. Have a good understanding of the company, its products, and its organisation both geographical and structural.
  • An excellent project / bid manager
  • A high level of IT skills in Word, InDesign and to a degree Excel
  • A high level of written English and report writing and/ or bid writing skills
  • An excellent communicator
  • Must be prepared to spend time away from home overnight
  • Previous experience in high level bid writing and production
  • Commercial sector focussed experience
  • Proactive nature with an ability to show initiative
  • A good understanding of Kier, its other products outside of the facilities services range, its organisation both geographical and structural would be highly beneficial.
