Position: Bid Manager

Salary Range: Competitive salary plus full package including up to 7.5% matched pension (totalling 15%), up to 10% off new Kier homes, two competitive share schemes and multiple retail rewards

Location: Within 1 hours' commute of Plymouth with travel to Truro and surround region

Duration: Permanent

Kier Construction Western & Wales is looking to recruit a Bid Manager to join the for Pre-Construction team. The successful post-holder will contribute to the planned and sustained business growth through the production of client bespoke bid proposals.

Key responsibilities:
  • Assemble a bid team with the relevant knowledge and skills to prepare a winning bid
  • Follow the agreed bid management procedures and ensure they are implemented at each stage of the bid process
  • Manage the bid qualification process for new opportunities
  • Chair Bid Kick off meetings, solution development and mid bid meetings
  • Manage virtual bid teams and inputs from a variety of stakeholders, ensuring they are fully briefed and understanding the client bid requirements/key deliverables and develop a win plan for each opportunity
  • Attend feedback / debrief sessions with client on all bids.
  • Manage the clarification process with the client including making sure the bid team are kept fully up to date with clarifications/document changes etc.
  • Support teams to prepare for site visits and interviews including presentations and briefing on the team on the Bid Promises
  • Ownership of the bid programme and process from inception through to submission and thereafter where appropriate.
  • Co-ordinate tender queries/amendments, assessing impacts and advising the bid team

Knowledge, experience and skills:
  • The jobholder needs to have a background in a similar services type environment, or obtained a high level of education in relevant subjects, or be willing to undertake training both internal and external to the company. Have a good understanding of the company, its products, and its organisation both geographical and structural.
  • An excellent project / bid manager
  • A high level of IT skills in Word, InDesign and to a degree Excel
  • A high level of written English and report writing and/ or bid writing skills
  • An excellent communicator
  • Must be prepared to spend time away from home overnight
  • Previous experience in high level bid writing and production
  • Commercial sector focussed experience
  • Proactive nature with an ability to show initiative
  • A good understanding of Kier, its other products outside of the facilities services range, its organisation both geographical and structural would be highly beneficial.
