BIM Coordinator

Location: Bristol

Summary: This role will involve working with the BIM Manager and key project staff to facilitate the implementation of BIM across the local business, as well as supporting BIM management across identified projects.

Responsibilities:

Administration & Commercial

  • Assist Design Managers with producing BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) in response to Employer Information Requirements (EIRs).
  • Collate information to assist the BIM Manager with producing monthly board reports.
  • Maintain the staff IT & Training tracker.
  • Assist with PQQ & bid responses in regards to BIM related questions.
  • Contribute to Group BIM development and activities.
  • Keep up to date with industry standards and specifications regarding BIM.

Communication, Implementation & Technical

  • Assist the BIM Manager to educate the wider Kier project staff with the understanding of BIM processes and tools.
  • Develop technical skills in BIM authoring software, such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Bentley AECOsim, Graphisoft ArchiCAD etc.
  • Develop technical skills in Autodesk Navisworks Simulate/Manage.
  • Develop a detailed technical understanding of Kier's BIMXtra data hub platform (training and support will be given).
  • Maintain the BIMXtra platform across selected projects.
  • Provide a supporting role to deliver BIMXtra training to internal colleagues and external consultants / subcontractors.
  • Promote open BIM and collaborative working.
  • Liaise with external consultants to ensure project BIM is maintained as per the BEP.
  • Maintain a high level of communication (therefore embracing the collaborative culture of BIM) with the project team in order to solve project challenges and facilitate lean processes.
  • Carry out model audits to determine quality and standards of consultant teams' BIM.
  • Advise on technical issues arising from model audits, and ensure shared coordinates are set up and maintained between disciplines.
  • Carryout model federation where required.
  • Support/undertake clash detection exercises where required.
  • Attend coordination workshops to assist with model navigation and functionality.
  • Assessing and coordinating BIM IT hardware & software deployment.

Required & Desirable skills

  • A good communicator, able to build positive working relationships.
  • Technical background in a construction discipline.
  • Understanding and passion for BIM.
  • Knowledge of BIM authoring software (ideally Revit but not essential).
  • Knowledge of Navisworks.
  • Proficient (ideally advanced) skills using Microsoft Office.
  • Open to learning new software and processes.
  • Ability to coordinate others.
  • Ability to manage own workload
