Job Title: Building Services Design Team Leader
Location: Maple Cross, London - This is an agile role where you will be predominantly based out of our Maple Cross Office, with partial home working available and will require occasional travel to Client offices and project sites.
Business area: Kier Construction - Design & Business Services
Contract: Permanent, full time.

Key Responsibilities
Part of the Kier Group, KDaBS is an autonomous multi-D consultancy (ranked an impressive 54th Building Magazine's Top 150 Consultants 2021 table) providing services to both our established base of external clients and a growing internal Kier Construction pipeline (where we compete with other consultancies to secure design commissions).
In joining the Kier Group, you'll be able to participate and develop with one of the country's most established and inspired forward thinkers in construction, property, residential and services.
Increasing demand for KDaBS services across London and the South East requires a stronger local MEP presence. In response, we are establishing a new Building Services design hub in our London Maple Cross office, and are seeking to recruit a Senior individual to establish, lead and grow the team, and with potential to progressively assume the national service line Lead role.
Our client and project base encompasses education, blue light, commercial, healthcare, leisure, and more; but particular focal points for our growth at this time are:

Low carbon design: Recent exciting strategic wins have positioned us to consolidate our position as a leading LowC design team and positively contribute to reducing the UK's carbon emissions;

Education projects: This is a significant market opportunity through the Kier Construction business for which we would welcome applicants with experienced of the DfE procurement process and DfE standards.
What do we need from you?
Reporting to the National Services Engineering team lead, and able to work to tight timescales and budgets without supervision, the successful applicant for this role will be a Chartered Engineer and member of CIBSE or IET, with a Degree in Mechanical Building Services or Electrical Engineering plus significant experience demonstrating the capability to fulfil the accountabilities of the role, including:

Manage all aspects of the Services Engineering team based within the Maple Cross office, including; commercial, technical, behavioural, developmental and health & Safety. Identifying and implementing necessary steps to balance team capabilities and resource levels with available workload.

Rapidly establishing a collaborative and commercially effective work winning relationship with colleagues in the Kier regional construction businesses based upon technical competence and reliability.

Setting, monitoring and maintaining high quality standards of product delivery, aligning all aspects to standard industry practices, clients contractual requirements, budget and timescale.

Technical competence to provide oversight to the development of coordinated building services engineering design solutions for major new builds, refurbishments and minor works. Proven experience with design team use of industry standard design software including Cymap, NBS, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office is desirable.

Maintain and disseminate knowledge of relevant professional and technical standards; taking an active role in developing standards and best practice to share with colleagues across the Professional Excellence Teams in the Kier business

Maintain effective and regular communication to management on all matters affecting output, progress, cost and risks.
This role requires a high level of knowledge and experience in your discipline allied to demonstrable understanding of current industry standards, Building Regulations, Health and Safety, and CDM regulations. Proven experience with use of industry standard design software including Cymap, NBS, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office is desirable.
