Location: Covering Bedfordshire to Cambridgeshire region

Contract & hours: Permanent, full time 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm + call out & standby

Kier Places are recruiting today for a Building Services Electrician, where your role will be key to supporting the delivery of a Facilities Management Hard & Technical Services solution for our prestigious client, the Ministry of Justice. You will be providing planned & reactive maintenance with an Electrical bias across the Ministry of Justice National Probation Service Estate, covering an operational area of Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and near counties.
Key Responsibilities
As a focused and reactive Building Services Electrician, you will deliver a combination of electrical & building fabric planned and reactive engineering services, across a region to multiple client sites including Approved Premises & Probation Offices. You will be assisting in ensuring Kier deliver a safe, customer focused, cost effective, efficient and compliant service in order to meet its contractual and legal obligations.
Electrical activities will include lighting and power installation works, re-lamping of fittings and general repair, socket replacement, and other repairs or installations; carrying out electrical tests such as annual emergency light testing, DB and RCD checks, testing and certification of all works in accordance with NICEIC regulations; and basic general maintenance actives such as fixing whiteboards, changing lamps, basic carpentry or ironmongery and small repairs.
You should also be comfortable working on ladders, in tight spaces, and in plant rooms; working alone or in a team; and be comfortable moving/transporting tooling & access equipment of all sizes & weights.
This role involves providing emergency response to reactive jobs to make safe or fix the issue dependant on the skill/repair type required, based on an evening & weekend call-out rota.
What do we need from you?
We're looking for a Qualified Electrician (e.g., Level 3 City & Guilds/NVQ) with 18th Edition Wiring, Inspect and Test (2391), who is able to demonstrate general Engineer competence. As a bonus, you may have PASMA, Working At Height, IPAF certification, and L8 Legionella awareness.
Due to the nature of this position, you should have a full UK driving licence, be comfortable travelling across the region to difference sites, and be able to participate in the on-call rota (currently 1 week in 4) system covering out of hours and weekends.
