 Kier Property Design & Business Services is looking to recruit an Assistant Building Surveyor to join the team in the Southern Region on a permanent basis.


Kier Property Design & Business Services provide specialist teams and technology solutions to help plan, manage and improve our clients' workplaces. This provides our clients to access to solutions not readily available in their own organisations.


Our key clients include the Metropolitan Police Service, London Borough of Hackney and Kier itself. We also work with a number of schools and academies, various London borough councils and also county councils.


The building surveyor will work closely with private and public sector clients, professional colleagues and other disciplines.


The role requires effective technical and financial project delivery, as well as providing support for the development of external business opportunities. You may be required to assist in the preparation of bid submissions and presentation materials.


Key Responsibilities

  • To deliver Building Surveying commissions and projects and be accountable for quality and effective delivery.
  • You will be required to assist the successful delivery of projects, meeting financial, time, quality, and client satisfaction objectives.
  • Help financially monitor projects, including helping monitor and record changes to contracts and final accounts.
  • Contribute fully to the wider project team so that service delivery supports the business needs of Kier Property Design & Business Services.
  • Help the team provide technical / professional expertise, advice and guidance.
  • Assist with bids and proposals as required.
  • Seek, identify and exploit opportunities for adding value, improving customer service, efficiency and effectiveness through continuous improvement.
  • Undertake other appropriate duties commensurate with the role as required by the Head of Service.
  • Assist in meeting the Business Development objectives and represent Kier Property in a professional and brand enhancing manner.
    • Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent
  • Experience in the relevant field with appropriate technical skills and influencing skills.
  • Has some experience of service across different customers, private and public sector organisations.
  • Experience of building relationships with clients.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety, Quality Management and CDM regulations.
  • Experience of producing building specifications and 2D CAD drawings.
  • Understanding of BIM and operational knowledge of REVIT would be an advantage
  • Membership of RICS or equivalent professional body would be an advantage


    • Salary: circa £35,000
