Building Surveyor Job in Orpington
Due to increasing projects, our leading multidisciplinary consultancy client requires a Building Surveyor to join their team in Orpington, working on a range of projects across residential, commercial and education sectors. This is a great opportunity to join an established consultancy, with excellent training and development opportunities and remote working.
The multidisciplinary practice is award-winning and specialises in commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, retail, mixed-use and residential. Offering a multitude of services in Architecture, BIM, M&E, Engineering, Surveying, Project Management and H&S. Made up of 6 offices and 300 staff, they are continuing to grow and offer excellent progression opportunities.
Role & Responsibilities
- Receiving client instructions and agreeing fee proposals for various projects and professional surveying instructions
- Surveying and reporting on residential, commercial and education properties
- Acting as Lead Consultant for refurbishment and new build projects for public and private clients in different sectors including residential, commercial and education
- Brief clients, design, co-ordinating consultants, specifying, cost advice, tendering, drafting contractual documents and contract administration
- This is a Client facing role and will include chairing meetings, presentations and resident meetings
- There may a requirement to attend out of hours meetings from time to time e.g. resident and leaseholder stakeholder meetings
- JCT contracts (both Contract Administration and Employer's Agent roles), Party Wall and building pathology / defects diagnosis
- Use of AutoCAD
- Mentoring junior members of staff
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years in building surveying for a consultancy
- Contract administration experience
- Ability to liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and other external stakeholders
- JCT Contract knowledge
- RICS accredited degree
- MRICS or working towards
