Building Surveyor Job in Bristol, Somerset

Building Surveyor job based in Bristol, Somerset, working on projects across the South West. You will be joining a growing and reputable multidisciplinary consultancy. Managing projects from inception to completion on behalf of Housing Associations, Local Authority and Developer clients in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. The role will be working on large scale residential new build schemes and some remedial cladding/facades projects. Offering a salary of £45,000 - £55,000 + Flexibility to work remotely + Travel + Discretionary Bonus + medical and support with professional accreditations.

The consultancy offers a multitude of services including project management, surveying, cost consultancy, and design management, and specialise in residential and affordable housing projects for developers, Housing Associations and Local Authorities. Made up of over 100 employees and 4 offices, they are continuing to grow with a strong pipeline of work across London, Southeast, Midlands and South West. You will receive continual support and development including support with the RICS APC pathway.

Role & Responsibilities

- Liaise closely with Clients, Contractors, consultants and Developers

- Prepare designs, where applicable, on Contract Administration projects

- Working with and developing a Quality Management System

- Report on a regular basis on status of projects and update Fee Projections

- Organise all pre-contract investigations, surveys and other due diligence issues required by Clients, including sustainability issues

- Production of the Project Execution Plan

- Chair and minute pre-contract meeting and issue minutes to all parties

- Project manage where applicable other consultants on behalf of client Resident liaison

- Undertake all client funding and developments control requirements

- Prepare detailed specification of works, Performance Specification and where applicable building regulations and contract drawings

- Amend contracts, prepare Build Agreements and JCT contracts

- Tendering (single & 2-stage) including Procurement Analysis & Reporting

- Prepare and issue Contract Documents

- Ensure the appropriate stage invoices are issued

- Regular site inspections and reporting

- Issue relevant Instructions, Certificates and Notices

- Assess contractor payment applications & advise client on cashflow forecast

- Prepare Final Accounts (claims where applicable) & issue final statements.

Required Skills & Experience

- 3+ years' experience as a Building Surveyor

- Must have contract administration experience

- Experience working on large scale construction projects, residential preferred, but Commercial, Education, Healthcare also considered

- Ideally experience in working for a consultancy, however client-side for a Housing Association or Local Authority will also be considered

- RICS Accredited Degree or equivalent

- Working towards MRICS or MCIOB

- UK Driving Licence and own car.
